The Algebra II Common Core Regents exam is being given on Wednesday, June 1st at 8:00 am.
There is another Regents exam being given on Friday, June 17th. That exam is Algebra 2 with Trigonometry. Many of the concepts on this test are not part of the Algebra II course. If you are interested in taking this exam, you should either be participating in our after school review classes or working with a tutor to study this new material. You should not take this exam unless you have prepared for it outside of your regular classes.

If you plan to take this second exam, you must see Mrs. Sapanski, Math Director, in the Main Office to sign up.

Yearbooks will be distributed on June 6th. Please check the list outside the main office. If you have purchased a yearbook, you will be on the list and they can be picked up on June 6th beginning period 2 in the library. If you have not purchased a yearbook, seniors may purchase a book begging period 2 in the library on June 6th for $150 cash only.

Invitations have been mailed to all senior varsity athletes who will be receiving an award at the upcoming Athletic Awards Dinner on Monday, June 13th at 7:00pm at Captain Bill’s Restaurant in Bay Shore. Any senior athlete who has not received a mailed invitation and therefore NOT receiving an award, but is still interested in attending, can pick up an invitation in the high school main office.

If there is any student who received their lifeguard certification this year, and wants to work in the West Islip Summer Swim Program please see Mrs. Storan ASAP for an application. There are a few spots open, and the pay is $10 an hour.

Attention Robotics Members: There will be a meeting tonight at 6:00 in Room 162.

Lifeguard shirts are in. Anyone who ordered a lifeguard shirt, please see Mrs. Storan in the ISS Room.
Attention girls interested in trying out for volleyball next year, there will be an open gym tonight May 26th at 7:15 and Tuesday May 31st at 7.

The Varisty Baseball team defeated Smithtown East yesterday 3-2. Ray Webber went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and hit a go-ahead solo homer in the sixth to put No. 2 West Islip (21-4) ahead 3-2 in its Suffolk AA semifinal win over No. 3 Smithtown East. Starting pitcher Jimmy Mattera pitched six innings, allowing four hits and no earned runs with two strikeouts. Mattera was was replaced by Webber in the seventh and moved to leftfield. With two outs in the inning and a runner on second, Smithtown singled to Mattera in left, who threw out the potential game-tying run at home plate to end the game. The Lions will host Northport home Saturday at 12 in a best of 3 series for the County Championship.

The Girls Lacrosse team defeated Middle Country 11-7 yesterday in the semi final lacrosse game. The Lions were led by Sam Blair 4 goals 1 assist, Emily Beier 3 goals, Emily Piciullo 2 goals 1 assist, Vanessa Costantino 1 goal 2 assist, Alyssa Gillespie 1 goal 1 assist and Danielle Marino 1 goal. The Lions defense held Middle Country to single digit goals for the first time this season. The Lions will play Smithtown West Tuesday @ 8:00 at Dowling College for the county championship. Great Job Ladies Remember your time is not over!! Come out and support your team !!!!

There is a mandatory Varsity Football meeting on Wednesday June 1st right after school in the boy's gym. Everyone is expected to be there so if you do have a conflict you must see Coach Mileti.

Congratulations to the West Islip Varsity Baseball Team and the West Islip Varsity Girls Lacrosse Team who will once again compete for the Suffolk County championship!

Baseball County Championship (best of 3 series) - No admission
Game 1- Saturday, May 28, 12 noon Home
Game 2- Monday, May 30, 4pm Northport HS
Game 3- Tuesday, May 31, 4pm Home (if necessary)

Girls Lacrosse County Championship Game- Tuesday, May 31, 8:00pm, Dowling Sports Complex (off William Floyd Parkway), $6 NYSPHSAA Admission.

Good Morning. Today is Wednesday May 25th. It is a GOLD day. Please stand for the pledge.

If you want to learn about God, receive advice and engage in fun conversations, then you should come to R.E.A.L. today after school at 2:30 in the library instruction room. This is a student run club, all are welcome.

Yesterday the Girls Track Team competed in the first day of the county championships. Christine Delianne broke the school record in the 400 meter dash, qualifying her for finals on Thursday. Other finalists are Hanna Battaglini and Amanda Iasparo, Sierra Koehler place 5th in the 800 meter run, Klaire Klemens place3rd in the 3000 meter Run, and Krista O’Conner place 4th in the 3000 meter run, Sam Jenks placed 6th in the Triple Jump and Helen Filosa placed 7th in the discus. Great job girls and good luck on Thursday.

Attention all current Juniors who are National Honor Society Members. There will be a mandatory meeting on today at 2:15 in room 192. We will be discussing field day and positions to be filled for next year.

The Varsity Baseball Team defeated Smithtown East yesterday 9-8. Trailing 6-2 Joe Valentino came in and pitched 3 1/3 innings allowing 1 run on one hit with 3 strikeouts. The Lions chipped away each inning scoring 1 in the 4th 2 in the fifth and Nick Valenti recorded 2 of his 3 rbi's on the day with a two run single making the score 8-6 after six innings. After Smithtown East tied it at 8 in the top of the 7th. Kyle O'Neill singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on Ray Weber's ground ball to third base that ended the game. The team will be away at Smithtown East today.

The Varsity Baseball Team defeated Happaugue Saturday 4-3 in 11 innings. James Kory started things off in the first inning with a 2 run single in the bottom of the first. Ray Weber pitched six solid innings allowing 3 runs on five hits while striking out six. Jonny Risedorf hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning to give the Lions a 3-0 lead. However, Happaugue tied the game in the top of the sixth at 3. James Kory pitched 5 scoreless innings of relief allowing one hit and striking out seven. In the bottom of the 11th Nick Valenti was hit by a pitch and Stephen Pappas came on to pinch run. He advance to third on a double by Greg Tsouprakos and was driven in by Kyle O'Neill for the walk off victory. The Lions will play home today against Smithtown East in the first game of a best of 3 series.
