Good Morning. Today is Wednesday, April 1, 2015 – It is a GOLD day. Please stand for the pledge.

Any student or staff member interested in performing in this year’s West Islip Rocks Variety Show on April 20th should see Mrs. Rocco in Room 102 to sign up.

There will also be an important Relay for Life meeting with Tim Dillon on April 15th in room 298 at the bell – Any questions – please see Mrs. Scudder.

The South Shore Children’s Center of West Islip is offering a scholarship to a senior majoring in elementary education in college. Applications are available in the Counseling Office and are due by May 1st.

Applications are now available in the Counseling Office for the Udall Road Middle School Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a former Udall Road Middle School student who demonstrates leadership in their school and/or community. Deadline is Friday, April 24th.

West Islip Little League is looking for volunteers for opening day and on a daily basis throughout the season. Opening Day is on Saturday, April 18th. The hours to volunteer and earn community service hours are: Monday-Friday 5:30-8:30pm and Saturday and Sunday either 9-1 or 1-5 session. Please come down to the Main Office to sign up. We appreciate your help.
The JV softball team is off to a great start, winning their first 2 games against Bay Shore and Central Islip. Today the Lions are at home at 4:00 against North Babylon. Come out and support the team.

The Girls Track Team defeated West Babylon. The team of Meghan Bevan, Sara Mercurio and Allison Tantone finished 1,2,3,4 in the 800 meter run. Great performances were turned in by Hanna Battaglini in the 100 and 200, Kaitlyn Spence in the 100 and 200, Brittany Blindenhofer in the 100 and 400, Alyssa Bove in the 3000, Amanda Isaparo in the 400 m, and Sam Jenks in the Long and Triple Jump. Great job girls.

The JV baseball team defeated Hills West 3-1. Kyle O’Neill pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run and striking out 2. Tom Gatto came in relief and pitched a scoreless 7th to earn the save. Kyle O’Neill drove in Jake Russo in the bottom of the 6th for the go ahead run. Brandon Isolano and Frank Genise both went 2 for 3 from the plate. Great defense was displayed by Jimmy Loeffler and Frank Genise.

Attention Seniors: Applications for the West Islip Beautification Society Scholarship are available in the Counseling Office. Anyone who has helped beautify West Islip in some way are encouraged to apply. The due date is today March 31st.

“The Varsity Softball Team improved its record to 3-0 with a win over Central Islip yesterday. Taylor Whitney pitched 5 innings of shutout ball, giving up just 3 hits while striking out 5. Amanda Arena again led the Lions offense, going 3 for 4, with 2 doubles and a long home run to centerfield. Jess Perrone had 3 hits and an RBI, Melanie Regan had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s, Jean Tatosian had one hit and 2 RBI’s, Alyssa Adam had 1 hit and 1 RBI, Christie Lacolla had a hit and an RBI, and Taylor Whitney had a hit and an RBI. Rachel Wandzilak and Stephanie Neglia also had hits in this contest and each made exceptional defensive plays. Another Solid Win Girls! The team will play in North Babylon this afternoon at 4 o’clock. Come out and support your team!”
