Good Morning. Today is Friday, February 17th. It is a GOLD day. Please stand for the pledge.
Senior girls who are active in community service are encouraged to apply for the Women of West Islip Scholarship. Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
The next Students Acting for the Environment Meeting will be held on Monday February 27th after school in Room 207. Our club T-shirts are in and we will be raffling off the extra free merchandise given to us as a result of our fundraiser. We will also be deciding to which charities we will be donating our fundraising money.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Are you interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement after high school? On Thursday March 9th, Police Commissioner Timothy Sini will be visiting West Islip High School to talk with interested students about becoming a member of the law enforcement community Spots are limited. Those interested in attending this assembly should see Mr. Vecchione or Mr. Vollmuth for more details.
Superlative voting will begin on February 17th and will end on March 6th. Visit the yearbook eboard for directions and links to complete the survey.
Attention Seniors: A Senior group photo will be taken on March 1st during period 5 in the boys gym. Be there at the beginning of the period to guarantee you are in the photo for the yearbook.
Any girl playing golf this spring will need to attend a mandatory meeting Monday, February 27th. The meeting will be at 2:45 outside of the fitness center. Coach Loudon will be handing out blue health cards, so please be there.
Attention Seniors: Applications for the West Islip Beautification Society Scholarship are
available in the counseling office. Anyone who has volunteered with the society or has helped beautify West Islip in some way are encouraged to apply. The due date is April 20th.

Patrick Carter has done it again, winning the Suffolk County Diving Championships for the 5th consecutive year. In doing so in record setting fashion with a new County Record of 625.35 bettering his old record by more than 26 points. Adriane Casey placed 6th in the field of 13 with a score of 313.80 Patrick will next represent West Islip at the NYS Championship Meet March 3rd at the Nassau Aquatic Center. Congrats Pat and good luck at States.
The rest of the team will be competing Saturday at Suffolk Community College. Good Luck Swimmers.

Thursday, February 16, 2017- Blue Day
Good Morning. Today is Thursday, February 16th. It is a BLUE day. Please stand for the pledge.

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in running spring track today after school in room 134B. If you cannot attend please see Ms. Studley.

Attention all boys who are interested in joining the spring track and field team. There will be an important meeting today at 2:15pm. The meeting will take place in room 192. All interested athletes must attend.

There will be a Varsity and JV Tennis meeting today at 2:15 in the hallway outside the Fitness Center.

Attention Freshman: The Class of 2020 will be a holding a meeting today after school in Room 134A. We will be discussing our fundraisers and events for the Spring. New members are welcome!

Attention all wrestlers, there is a mandatory meeting today right after school in room 186. We will turn in gear, vote on awards, discuss the dinner, and clean out the locker room.

Yesterday, the girls track team competed at the Suffolk County State Qualifier meet. Earning All county honors and qualifying for the state meet were Hanna Battaglini in the 55m hurdles, and Klaire Klemens and Sierra Koehler in the 1500 meter run. Sam Jenks finished 9th in the county in the triple jump with a person best of 34 feet 8 inches. Christine Delianne finished 7th in the 300 meter dash. Congratulations girls.

Congratulations to the members of the West Islip 4 by 800 relay team for taking second place in the State Qualifier meet last night. The team consists of Peter DeMicco, Desmond Benton, Greg Bove, and Andrew Lauriguet. Together they ran a season best time of 8 minutes and 19 seconds. Great job men.

Another congratulations goes out to Andrew Lauriguet, who will be representing West Islip at the state meet in March. Not only did Andrew run the fastest High Hurdle time in Suffolk County, he also broke a 43 year old school record by running the hurdles in 7.70 seconds. Once again Congratulations Andrew and best of luck at the State Meet.

Monday, February 13, 2017- Gold Day
Good Morning. Today is Monday, February 13th. It is a GOLD day. Please stand for the pledge.

There is a mandatory Business and Marketing Honor Society meeting on Tuesday at 2:15 in the auditorium. All must attend! Please see Mrs. Macrelli if you have a question.

Attention all level 4 language students interested in applying for the World Language Honor Society: Applications are due to Mrs. Patti-McDonald's mailbox today.

The 2017 PS I Love You shirts are available for purchase during lunch periods outside Cafeteria A/B. PS I Love you day is Friday February 17th this year.

West Islip Students With Heartt will be selling our yearly Teddy Bear Grams for Valentine’s Day for Angela’s House. They are available during Lunch Periods 4,5,6,7, and 8.

Nassau Community College will be coming to the High School for On-Site Registration Wednesday February 15th If you are interested in participating please make sure you sign up in the counseling office and provide your counselor with all the required materials no later than Monday February 13th.

On Thursday March 9th, Police Commissioner Timothy Sini will be visiting West Islip High School to talk with interested students about becoming a member of the law enforcement community. Students in attendance will have the opportunity to listen to Mr. Sini speak about the process and ask questions. Spots are limited. Those who are interested in attending this assembly should see Mr. Vecchione or Mr. Vollmuth for more details.

Class of 2019 will be selling Valentine's Day Candy Grams for $1 in all lunch periods. Valentines will be distributed during 9th period on Feb 14th.
