The use of buildings and grounds is subject to the provisions of
Section 414 of the New York State Education Law. The Board of Education
has the authority to regulate the dates and hours buildings may be used.
School activities take precedence in the use of school facilities and
the district reserves the right to cancel any reservations.
Organizations receiving permission to use school facilities must be
responsible for the conduct of participants and spectators attending the
function. The permit is issued for a specific facility and a specific
time use of other areas is prohibited. No one should be allowed in the
hallways, bathrooms etc. without adult supervision. Organizations using
athletic fields are reminded to extend all possible courtesy to our
residential neighbors. Spectators should not congregate along fences
abutting backyard. Activities should not take place along or against
fences abutting backyards.
If attendance at the meeting of the requesting organization falls below
eight (8) for two (2) successive meetings, the reservation for that
organization may be canceled.
Organizations using the swimming pool must obey all state and local
regulations governing the use of swimming pools. In particular the
organization must have 1 qualified lifeguard for each 75 bathers. The
organization will provide the district with copies of certificates or
other documents showing each lifeguards possession of lifeguard
qualifications. The lifeguard shall not engage in activities which could
distract from lifeguarding duties.
Parking is in designated parking areas only. Parking in fire lanes or
lawn areas is prohibited. Driving of vehicles on the grounds or fields
of the West Islip School District is strictly prohibited without prior
written authorization.
Smoking, the possession or use of intoxicating beverages and gambling is
prohibited in the buildings and on the grounds of the West Islip School
District.

Tables and chairs are cleaned and returned to their proper place.
Moving or dismantling any athletic equipment is prohibited.
Eating and drinking is prohibited in all gymnasiums, auditoriums and

Painting is prohibited in all carpeted areas.
Failure to observe these regulations may result in the revocation of the
organization permit. Organizations who fail to adequately supervise
their activities, may be charged a fee for supervision by school
district personnel.

periodically throughout the year.
The West Islip School District is required to maintain a list of

48-hour prior written notification of certain pesticide applications.

requirements:
