The West Islip Board of Education voted
unanimously at the November 27 Planning Session to make up four
of the six missed instructional days due to Hurricane Sandy from
Tuesday, February 19 - Friday, February 22. This action was
based on the recommendation of the superintendent after he
reviewed possible options and discussed the issue with various
administrators, bargaining unit leaders and area superintendents
including BOCES.”
One of the remaining two instructional days that was missed will
be made up on Friday, May 24 as per the district snow day
process on the approved calendar and the remaining day was
converted from an instructional day to a Superintendent
Conference Day, as staff returned to work on Monday, November 5.
