Prekindergartners in the district were recently introduced to the election process by voting for snacks – pretzels or goldfish. Prior to the vote, teachers and students discussed the idea that the snack receiving the most votes would be distributed to every child even if that was not the snack an individual student voted for. Each student then went behind a screen to independently cast his or her secret ballot for either pretzels or goldfish. Once all ballots were cast, the votes were counted using tally marks.  

“The activity was exciting, educational, and fun for everyone,” said teacher Mary Alotta.
