Three eighth graders at Beach Street – Lauren Hand, Sasha Lavrovsky and Addison O’Hara – were recognized for their well-designed and informative infographic projects in Trish Portnoy’s Advanced Computer Essentials course.

The students used the anagram “ESCAPE” to learn how to identify junk news by considering evidence, source, context, audience, purpose and execution when reading any social media post or print or web article. Infographic materials were sourced from NewseumED, and the students used Canva to create posters that were judged by James Grover, the district’s director of mathematics, business education, and family and consumer sciences.
