For Bellew’s Virtual Career Day, West Islip High School alumnus Tim Probert met with the entire fifth grade via Google Meet to talk about his career as an art director and his love of art. Probert has worked as an illustrator for children’s books and magazines as well as commercials.

Probert was a third grader in Bellew teacher Karen McCarthy’s first class at the district’s Manetuck Elementary School many years ago.

“I recall young Tim telling me he loved drawing and wanted to be an illustrator even then,” McCarthy said.

After high school, Probert attended Boston University and received a bachelor’s degree in fine art. He recently published a graphic novel, “Lightfall: The Girl and the Galdurian,” and currently works as an art director with the Nathan Love animation production company in Manhattan.
