Abigail Heron, a fifth grader at Bellew, recently won second place in the Suffolk County American Legion’s Americanism poster contest. Fourth and fifth graders from the school had submitted artwork for the competition on the theme “The American Flag and What It Means to Me,” demonstrating how they can be patriotic, freedom-loving and proud of their country. Heron was honored with a medal for her artwork and a certificate for participation.
