The Suffolk County Football Coaches Association recently honored a dozen West Islip football players for their outstanding individual and team play during the 2018 season.

Tom Armetta, Patrick Cunningham, Christian Esperon, Kyle Haff, Mike LaDonna and Jack Pollock were named All-County athletes, while All-Division honors went to Max Albanese, Luke Alicea, Bob DiCapua, Jack Ilario, Will Reichel and Dom Sagginario.

LaDonna was recognized as the Division II MVP and won the Boomer Esiason Award, given to the top quarterback in Suffolk County.

“West Islip has had many very talented quarterbacks over the years, but Mike is the first one to win this prestigious award,” said West Islip Athletic Director Tim Horan. “It’s a well-deserved honor.”

Haff was a finalist for the top linebacker in the county, while Albanese was recognized as a National Football Foundation Golden 11 member, bestowed on the top 11 student athletes in Suffolk County football.

“It was a great night and season for the Lions,” Horan said. “Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents and guardians on another very successful season.”
