The district has named Dawn Morrison as the new assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction. She most recently served as principal of Manetuck. Morrison previously worked as principal of Oquenock and assistant principal at Beach Street. She began her career in education in 2000 as a seventh grade English teacher at Beach Street.

Morrison, an Oak Beach resident, earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, her master’s degree in education from Dowling College, and her administrative certification from the College of Saint Rose in Albany.

“West Islip is renowned for its impressive student performance, robust curricula programs, celebrated athletic teams, highly acclaimed musical groups and countless other areas of distinction,” Morrison said. “I look forward to being a part of the continued expansion of our vibrant educational programs and authentic learning experiences that  prepare our students for success in college and their future careers.”
