Oquenock third grader Luna Pankratz recently won first place in her age category for her recycling artwork in the 17th annual New York Recycles poster contest. It was her second consecutive year winning an award for this contest. Her artwork will be featured in the 2020 New York Recycles calendar, which is distributed statewide.

Pankratz was invited by the NYSDEC to attend an awards luncheon concluding the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling's annual Recycling Conference, held at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown. During the luncheon, Pankratz was honored for her award-winning entry and was invited to speak about the importance of recycling.
