Congratulations to research senior Sabrina Cassese! Sabrina was selected among a group of international scientists as a poster session winner at Brookhaven National Laboratory during the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-ll), Center for Functional Nanomaterials (CFN) and Laboratory for BioMolecular Structure (LBMS) Users' Meeting. Sabrina utilized Infrared microscopy and the Frontier Synchrotron Infrared Spectroscopy (FIS) beamline at the NSLS-II to investigate the chemical structure of microplastics isolated from water in disposable water bottles. Sabrina's research was inspired by her involvement in the West Islip chapter of The Thirst Project and her advocacy for clean water for all.
