Two New Administrators Join West Islip Team

West Islip School District has named Lindsey Ednick as assistant director of special education and Renee Bandes as director of science and engineering technology, effective July 1.

Ms. Ednick comes to West Islip from Plainview-Old Bethpage School District, where she most recently served as interim assistant principal and interim assistant director of PPS, grades 5-8. She worked as a teacher in Plainview-Old Bethpage School District from 2015-2022.

Ms. Ednick holds a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from the University of Wisconsin. She has a master’s degree from LIU/Post in childhood education/special education. Ms. Ednick has multiple certifications including childhood education, early childhood education, school building leader and school district leader.

Ms. Bandes worked as a teacher at North Babylon High School since 2002 in various levels of their science program. She has also served as the regional summer school principal at Western Suffolk BOCES’ regional summer school program from 2017-2022.

Ms. Bandes holds both a bachelor’s degree in natural science and mathematics and master’s degree from Dowling College in science education. In addition, she holds administrative certifications from the College of Saint Rose.
