Two New Assistant Principals Named at High School

Two new assistant principals have been appointed at West Islip High School in the West Islip School District. Effective July 1, Brittany Probst and John Ballantyne have joined the administrative high school team.

Ms. Probst was formerly a mathematics teacher at West Islip High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Prior to that, she worked as an assistant principal at Roosevelt High School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in adolescence education and middle school extension from Dowling College. In addition, she has a master’s degree in school building and district leadership from Touro College.

Mr. Ballantyne worked as an assistant principal at Lawrence High School since July 2018. Prior to that, he worked as a social studies teacher, grade director and academy leader at Williamsburg Charter School in Brooklyn. Mr. Ballantyne holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in education from St. John’s University. He also is certified as a school building leader.
