Fourth graders in Tim Bauernfeind and Kelly Parson’s class at Oquenock recently put their Halloween measurement skills to the test in the STEM lab. Students were asked to find the circumference of pumpkins, the mass of plastic bats, and the length of spooky skeletons; estimate the amount of candy in a jar using mathematical clues; and infer why placing candy into a graduated cylinder makes the water level rise.

“Everyone did a great job while practicing their measurement skills,” said Parson.
