Four high school research program students conducted research virtually this summer in collaboration with scientists at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Olivia Vice was part of the High School Summer Research Program, working on a project titled “Benchmarking Rear Door Heat Exchangers for BNL’s Data Center.”

Three students participated in BNL’s Student Partnerships for Advanced Research and Knowledge Spectroscopy summer program: Evan Lam with “Preliminary Evidence for Presence of Varnished Rocks on Eastern Long Island,” Gianna Pillitteri with “The Mineralogy of Oyster Shells from the 1600’s through Present Time” and Brett Powell with “Sediments Present in Man-Made SWR Pond.”

All four students committed six weeks of their summer to these programs and presented their culminating posters at a virtual poster session on Aug. 14.
