From March 18-22, Paul J. Bellew Elementary School was transformed into a career hub. Students in prekindergarten through fifth grade explored a variety of professions through classroom visits and virtual field trips to their parents’ workplace.

Parents and community members volunteered their time and “took students to work” with them to share their knowledge and expertise across many fields including graphic design, medicine, law enforcement, real estate, engineering, aviation, education and boat sales. Students even had a special visit from Mr. Met.

According to Principal Rhonda Pratt, “This was our largest turn out ever. More than 60 visitors, including parents and community members, came to school throughout the week. Building awareness about future careers and vocations at an early age sparks curiosity and interest in learning.”
