On March 20, students at Paul J. Bellew Elementary School had a special in-house field trip with West Islip High School science teacher Mr. Vitti. Around the perimeter of the school’s gymnasium, Mr. Vitti – who works in the high school’s planetarium – set up the different zodiac signs. Students learned about the winter, fall and spring equinox and the summer solstice, and the role of the sun and the moons in the changing seasons. Students rotated through the different seasons and learned about their zodiac signs.
