Congratulations to the boys winter track team and coaches Vin Melia and Matt Sullivan. The team qualified for the Large School Championships and State Qualifying Meet (top 12 in Suffolk County). Some of the season’s highlights include four new school records. Rocco Carpinello improved on his own triple and long jump records, recording marks of 47’10.25” and 22’8.5”. Adrian Syku broke the indoor school record in the 200 with a time of 23.99, and Kevin McCabe broke the indoor school record in the 3200 with a time of 9:48.89. On top of these records, Rocco also qualified for the New York State Public High School Track and Field Championships by becoming the Suffolk County champion in both triple and long jump. Rocco finished fourth in the triple jump at the state meet, achieving All-State status.
