In acknowledgement of International Women’s Day, the Board of Education recognized Superintendent Bernadette Burns at the board’s March 11 meeting, honoring her for significant contributions to the West Islip school community. During her tenure as the district’s superintendent, Burns has provided the leadership and foresight necessary to advance the district's progressive educational goals. Throughout the past year, she has successfully guided West Islip through unprecedented times and extraordinary challenges by always keeping the best interest of students and staff at the forefront of all planning and decision making.
