Luring the Leprechaun at Bayview

After coming into a disheveled classroom the morning of St. Patrick’s Day, the students in Dan Sliwowski’s kindergarten class at Bayview were determined to catch the leprechaun responsible for tipping their chairs, turning their desks around and leaving their toilet water green. After reading Adam Wallace’s “How to Catch a Leprechaun,” the students constructed a leprechaun trap made of cardboard, tape, math manipulatives and other school supplies. They drew pictures of fake golden coins and wrote short letters to entice the leprechaun to come into their trap.

“While their plan worked and the students were able to lure the leprechaun into their trap while they were at gym class, it ultimately managed to escape and leave behind another mess for them to clean up,” Sliwowski said. “Better luck next year!”
