Lauren Lay has been named the new assistant principal at Udall. Lay replaces Robyn Southard, an interim assistant principal who has now returned to her position as a school psychologist for the district.

Lay had worked since 2013 as an English and ENL teacher at the Longwood School District, and previously served as an English teacher for the New York City Department of Education.

An Islip resident, Lay earned a bachelor’s degree in child study from St. Joseph’s College and a master’s degree in teaching English to speakers of other languages from St. John’s University. She received her advanced certificate in school district and school building leadership from Stony Brook University.

“It is an honor to be part of the West Islip school community and I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, parents and community members to help foster the academic, social and emotional development of our students,” Lay said.
