West Islip High School science teacher Brian Haldenwang has been named the 2025 Suffolk Section Teacher of the Year by the Science Teachers Association of New York State. “This honor is a reflection of Mr. Haldenwang’s strong dedication to his students, his consistent commitment to excellence in science education, and the professionalism he brings to our school community each day,” said West Islip High School Principal Andrew O’Farrell. “His thoughtful and engaging approach to teaching has made a lasting impact on our students and his presence in our science department has had a positive impact over the years.”
