At the Jan. 9 Board of Education meeting, West Islip School District administrators and Board of Education members recognized student musicians and student athletes for their outstanding accomplishments this school year. 

Eric Albinder, director of art and music education, honored the following students for their selection in various musical ensembles on both the state and local levels: James Aspetti, Natalie Aspetti, Bruno Basile, Charlie DellUniversita, William DeWitt, Leah DiBernardo, Ruslan Ermakov, Nicholas Esposito, Leah Gallagher, Colin German, James Kennedy, Sydney Krowles, Lily Locovare, Robert Marrali, Nicholas Mastroddi, Zachary McGrath, Gavin Pollack, Cara Thaxter, Willow Vaughan and Elliana Wolhar.
    Tim Horan, director of health, physical education, athletics and recreation, honored All-County athletes from the fall season.
