Fairy-Tale Ending for Summer Program

The district closed out its elementary summer program with a week filled with fantastic fiction, fairy tales and folktales. Housed at Paul J. Bellew Elementary School, the library was transformed into a Makerspace activity as students were challenged to build their own castles.
In their classrooms, students read classic fairy tales including “The Gingerbread Man,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and “The Three Little Pigs.” The fourth graders participated in a fairy tale “drama circle,” where they acted out different scenes from the books. In the STEM lab, students used Borax, glue, food coloring and water to make their own slime. They created a slime crash pad to see if their slime would save their ducks. Students also ventured outdoors for a water balloon activity to try to knock Humpty Dumpty off the wall.
