Homecoming Festivities End with a Lions Win

The West Islip Union Free School District was filled with pride on Oct. 11 as students, staff, families and community members came together to celebrate homecoming 2025.
The day was filled with school spirit and community pride, highlighted by a lively parade and an exciting varsity football game. The celebration kicked off at Westbrook Elementary School, where crowds lined the streets to watch the annual homecoming parade. Students from all grade levels participated alongside youth cheerleaders, local sports teams and the high school classes with their decorated posters. Members of the homecoming court smiled and waved at crowds from their vehicles. The West Islip High School marching band led the parade with a spirited performance, energizing the crowd along the route to West Islip High School.
As the afternoon continued, the West Islip Lions took the field to face Rocky Point Eagles in the annual homecoming football game. They played with determination and teamwork as fans packed the stands to cheer them on. West Islip defeated Rocky Point 14-7. The victory was secured by a game-winning touchdown pass with 26 seconds left in the game, and it marked the 100th career win for West Islip coach Steve Mileti.
Halftime festivities featured stellar performances by the West Islip High School marching band and color guard, kickline team and varsity cheerleaders.
