Music Students Experience the NY Philharmonic

On Nov. 6, approximately 50 West slip High School music students had the opportunity to attend an open rehearsal of the New York Philharmonic at Lincoln Center in New York City. Students observed the orchestra prepare a program featuring a violin concerto performed by world-renowned virtuoso Joshua Bell, along with several iconic works including Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man” and Benjamin Britten’s “Sinfonia da Requiem.” The experience offered students a rare, behind-the-scenes look at professional musicianship at the highest level.
After the performance, students capped off their trip with a fun and memorable lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe before returning home.
