Middles Helping Littles Visit Bellew

Beach Street Middle School students visited Paul J. Bellew Elementary School as part of the Middles Helping Littles program on March 27, creating meaningful connections with younger learners while promoting a love of reading.
During the visit, each middle school student was paired with a kindergarten through second grade classroom, where they led engaging read-alouds and facilitated interactive activities. Arriving prepared with carefully selected books and companion activities, the middle school students took on the role of mentors, guiding younger students through stories and encouraging participation.
To maximize the experience, elementary classrooms had the opportunity to rotate middle school visitors among small groups, allowing more students to benefit from multiple read-alouds and interactions. The program not only supports early literacy development but also fosters leadership and confidence among middle school students. By stepping into the role of teacher and role model, they develop communication and collaboration skills while making a positive impact on their younger peers.
