Bayview Students Recognized as Top 10 Winners in PSEG Contest

Four students in Mr. DeMaio’s class at Bayview Elementary School were honored for their submission to the PSEG Long Island’s I Am EM-Powered. Congratulations to Autumn Booth, Emilee Erickson, Scarlet Jack and Aria O’Malley for earning at top 10 spot for their public service announcement.
This year, 4,381 fourth through eighth grade students and 105 educators from 41 schools across 32 school districts in Long Island and the Rockaways participated in the program. The I Am EM-Powered curriculum helps students explore important topics related to energy conservation, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and the future of renewable energy.
As part of the program, students worked individually or in teams of up to four to apply what they learned by creating 45-second public service announcement videos. Students brainstormed ideas, developed storyboards, wrote scripts, acted in their videos, recorded footage, and edited their final productions. The top 10 winning PSAs showcased the students’ abilities to communicate important messages about energy awareness and environmental responsibility in creative and engaging ways.
