Second Graders Bring Fall to Life Through Art

Fall came to life in Mrs. Burkart and Mrs. Novak’s second grade classroom at Bayview Elementary School as students combined learning and creativity through a collaborative Arts and Letters mural. As part of their learning, students explored seasonal changes and discussed how trees and leaves transform as the seasons change. They then brought those observations to life through a colorful autumn scene.
Working together, students used a variety of materials, colors and textures to create a mural featuring an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, hayride, colorful leaves and other favorite signs of fall.
The hands-on project encouraged students to observe, create and collaborate while making connections between nature and art. Most importantly, students had fun working together to create something special that celebrates the season.
