Serving Up Shapes in Kindergarten

On Oct. 7, kindergarten students at Manetuck Elementary School became little chefs during a special pizza shape party in the school’s cafeteria.
Dressed in chef hats and equipped with their own pizza boxes, students used a variety of shapes to create their own pizza pies. From the dough and sauce to the cheese and toppings, every part of their pizza featured a different shape. Once their pies were complete, the young mathematicians put their skills to work by counting how many circles, squares, triangles, rectangles and hexagons were used to create their individual pizzas.
A little math, a lot of creativity and plenty of fun made for a delicious learning experience.
